Chelsea are up 1-0 on Napoli on the night, meaning they are behind by just one goal on aggregate. Because of their away goal, if they turn their 3-2 defect into a 3-3 tie, they will be the team advancing to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League. Napoli have done plenty of counter-attacking and have forced a couple of saves, but Chelsea are well on top. We present, side by side, the reactions of Roberto Di Matteo and Walter Mazzarri to proceedings thus far.
Chelsea Vs. Napoli, 2012 UEFA Champions League: Halftime Score, Blues Lead 1-0 But Trail On Aggregate
The goal came in the 28th minute, with Didier Drogba heading in a fantastic cross by Ramires. That goal probably wasn't even the best chance of the half for Chelsea. They were absolutely brilliant going forward, and they were kept out of the net for the rest of the half due to a combination of poor finishing, great goalkeeping and bad luck. This chance, at the very end of the half, is a rare instance of all three at the same time.
If Napoli can't finish one of their counter-attacking chances, they are going to have to defend very, very well over the next 45 minutes. They are generally not very good at doing that, so they should probably try to score a goal. Just a protip from a proper football expert.
