It’s possible for a team near the top of the table after five fixtures to fall off the map entirely, but in the case of Tigre, they will probably be near the top of the table until the end of the Clausura. They’re desperate to get themselves out of the bottom two and into the relegation playoff places, and they’re playing well enough that their top position doesn’t look like a fluke. Tigre might be the first ever team to win the title and get relegated, provided AFA doesn’t blow up the league system next year. They play Estudiantes in a big top of the table clash.
They face Estudiantes La Plata in a top of the table clash this week. Tigre have been exceptionally strong at home, so it’s tough to envision them losing, but Estudiantes have the talent to beat anyone in the Americas at any time. They haven’t really put it all together in over a year and they’re just limping along in the Primera, but this week’s match is the kind that could kick off a great run of form if they’re able to get a good result.
The other two main contenders for the title, Velez Sarsfield and Boca Juniors, both have tough but winnable away games. Velez goes away to 10th placed Union, while Boca goes to San Juan to play sixth placed San Martin. Velez had off in Copa Libertadores this week, while Boca recorded a big away win over Arsenal.
