Of course, this was a friendly that didn’t matter, but why ruin a good time with something like that? Clearly a bunch of people found it interesting for whatever reason because they tuned it when they should have been working. Either that or the unemployed in the U.S. really like soccer.
Assuming that the majority of these people watching the match in America were rooting for the U.S., they must have enjoyed themselves, too, because the Americans defeated the four-time World Cup champion Azzurri for the first time ever thanks to a Clint Dempsey goal. Don't you dare try telling nearly a half million Americans that friendlies don't matter.
