It looks as if Toronto FC will be without the services of Stefan Frei for the foreseeable future. The goalkeeper left practice today on crutches and wearing an air cast. From the look of it, the injury Frei suffered was of the non-contact variety and appeared to involve him getting his cleat stuck in the grass.

If there's anything close to a silver-lining in this, it's that Frei was at least sharing time with Milos Kocic. Kocic was in goal for TFC's MLS opener and also started one of the CONCACAF Champions League games against the LA Galaxy. The 26-year-old had also started 7 of TFC's final 9 games last season and gone 2-1-4 in those games.

Frei is largely considered to be one of the more talented young goalkeeper in MLS and had spent most of his first three seasons as the unquestioned starter. Although, he has played behind one of the worst defenses during that time, his numbers did not always back up his talent. He was 3-12-11 last season as a starter, allowed 49 goals and saved just 68 percent of the shots he faced.
