Charles N’Zogbia Suffers Knee Injury, Out 3-4 Weeks

Aston Villa winger Charles N’Zogbia has suffered what the club is describing as a medial ligament injury during training and will miss the next few weeks as a result.

Aston Villa and having a particularly happy campaign and now they've lost Charles N'Zogbia for the next few weeks following a collision with young midfielder Gary Gardner during training on Monday. N'Zogiba joins a long Villa injury list - the Midlands club was already without Richard Dunne, Alan Hutton and centre forward Darren Bent - and with some key games coming up they're not going to be pleased with losing one of their better wingers.

Alex McLeish may described the injury as 'kind of opening up his knee a little bit' but it looks slightly more serious than that:

It happened in a training ground collision with Gary Gardner. They banged knees together and Charles kind of opened his knee up a little bit. Charles is going to get specialist attention in Paris. We’ve just got to see if his knee is going to take much longer to heal. We think it’s a medial knee ligament problem, maybe three or four weeks out.

Although the injury list looks pretty dire for Villa, they’re far enough clear from the relegation zone that it’s unlikely to matter much. The rest of the season should be a simple matter of blooding the youth, and although N’Zogbia’s absence might lead to some more dropped points, Villa don’t look anything like going down.
