Borussia Dortmund have plans to remain atop the Bundesliga for years to come, and they reinforced those plans by extending the contract of Mario Götze until June 30, 2016. Before the extension, his contract was set to expire in 2014.

Mario Götze has signed a two year extension that will keep him in Dortmund through 2016.

“Everybody knows how well I feel in Dortmund,” Goetze said in the club’s statement. “And I want to be a part of this evolution.”
For the last year, the Germany international has been linked with a €30 million moves to several European giants, including English Premier League clubs Arsenal and Chelsea. The extension does not guarantee Götze will stay in Dortmund past this summer, but it should increase the transfer fee if a move does materialize. Bild is reporting that the 19 year old will see his earnings increase to €4.6 million per season.
Signing Götze to an extension adds to the excitement Dortmund supporters already have for next season when Borussia Mönchengladbach star Marco Reus joins the club. There are also rumblings that the club could announce an extension for Japanese midfielder Shinji Kagawa in the near future.
Things are going pretty well for Borussia Dortmund at the present, and it appears that it will continue.
