Arsenal Vs. AC Milan, 2012 UEFA Champions League: A Fun Little Run-Out

Arsenal fans don't need to be reminded of how poorly their team played at the San Siro in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League tie against AC Milan. A combination of injuries and a poor pitch didn't make things easy, but they were thoroughly outplayed in a 4-0 loss. Their failure not only to keep it close, but to get an away goal means that this tie is effectively over.

Even with Arsenal in great league form, it seems highly unlikely that they will be able to overturn the massive deficit that they face. Arsene Wenger, seemingly aware of this, looks set to rest all of his marginally injured players. Mikel Arteta sustained what's been called a concussion against Liverpool, and though he was cleared by doctors, he'll be sitting out against Milan. Kieran Gibbs, Tomas Rosicky and Yossi Benayoun are slight doubts and could be rested. One of Rosicky or Benayoun will likely play due to the team's lack of fit midfielders. Per Mertesacker, Aaron Ramsey, Abou Diaby, Francis Coquelin, Andre Santos, Jack Wilshere and Arteta are the players who are out for sure.

Milan has a number of players who might tough it out if this was a big game, but who will likely rest because of the circumstances. Those players include Kevin-Prince Boateng, Clarence Seedorf, Alexandre Pato, Maxi Lopez and Alessandro Nesta. Urby Emmanuelson and Luca Antonini are questionable. Antonio Cassano, Mathieu Flamini and Gennaro Gattuso are long-term absences, while Massimo Ambrosini is suspended.
