Tim Howard will be between the sticks for Everton through 2016 thanks to a new contract that will keep him at the club for another four years. The American has been the Toffee's starting goalkeeper since joining them on loan in 2006 and in 2007 he made the move from Manchester United permanent. Now he'll make it 10 years with the club if he stays until the end of his new deal.

“It’s a place that is home for me. When you have a really good relationship in life and both sides are eager to continue and keep that going, it’s a no-brainer,” Howard said of his new contract. “This hasn’t been a knockdown, drawn-out type of negotiation with meetings or anything like that. They were very happy to keep me here and I was very, very happy to stay.”

Howard has made 265 appearances for Everton and with a tight budget at Goodison Park, Howard’s play has become even more important for the Toffees. Players have been sold and few have come in, but Howard’s play in goal has helped saved matches for Everton and given them the kind of stability that they need as players are sold off.

On the other side of the pond, Howard’s has become the undisputed starting goalkeeper for the United States. He started for the U.S. during the 2010 World Cup and is one of the best and most consistent players the Americans have, making him a sure bet to keep his place in the team through the 2014 World Cup as well.
