Liverpool have ousted Director Of Football Damien Comolli after the Fenway Sports Group held a review of the clubs transfer activity as the clubs owners look to pinpoint what has gone wrong for the Reds this season. A club press release stated that Comolli left by mutual consent, while many other commentators have speculated that the club's perceived overspending on the likes of Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam lead to the former Tottenham Hotspur man to be sacked.

Liverpool have announced the departure of their Director Of Football, Damien Comolli after a review of the clubs recent expenditure in the transfer market.

Club Chairman Tom Werner lead the niceties as more statements came out about Comolli’s departure, telling reporters;
The Club needs to move forward and we now have a huge game on Saturday. It is important that everyone joins us in supporting the manager and gets behind Kenny and the team and focuses on a strong finish to the season.
Which if you really want to read between the lines, might suggest that Comolli was not seen to be 'supporting the manager' as the club prepare for Saturday's FA Cup semifinal against crosstown rivals Everton. Comolli also commented on his departure, and wished the club well for the future;
I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to work at Liverpool and am happy to move on from the Club and back to France for family reasons. I wish the Club all the best for the future.
It seems to be universally accepted by Liverpool fans, and the wider football audience that the club have failed dramatically this season based upon their summer spending. However the timing of the decision is a curious one, making such a dramatic change on the eve of a big cup semifinal.
It would appear from the outside that the Fenway Sports Group are looking for someone culpable for this seasons performance, and Comolli seems to be the one to take the fall having negotiated the majority of Liverpool's transfers. However, not all the blame should be placed on Comolli, he merely provided the tools Kenny Dalglish desired. If results don't improve after this move, the Scotsman could be next for the chop.
