MLS does their best to avoid playing midweek matches. Crowds dwindle, the money goes out the window and it’s tough to even get decent TV coverage of the matches so there really is no advantage to playing in the middle of the week. Sometimes, though, it is unavoidable. The CONCACAF Champions League, friendlies and desire to avoid playing on FIFA international dates has rendered some weekends unplayable for some, or all teams.
