Manchester City Vs. Manchester United, 2012 Premier League: Kompany Gives City Lead

Well that's a thing. Manchester City take the lead at the Etihad Stadium! It's been coming, too. Since a fast start Manchester United haven't done much of anything, and City have been looking increasingly confident going forward. David Silva creates a wonderful opportunity when his reverse pass plays in Samir Nasri on the right, and although the former Arsenal man sees his cross blocked by Patrice Evra, the hosts manage to score from the resulting corner.

It's Vincent Kompany who gets the goal, with Chris Smalling completely failing to track his clever run. Once the big centre back managed to get his head to the ball, it was never going anywhere but into the back of the net - David de Gea had no chance whatsoever. It's a great time to score as far as City are concerned, and that'll really deflect United as we go to halftime.
