Arsenal Vs. Manchester City, 2012 Premier League: Robin Van Persie Hits Post

We're still all-square at the Emirates, where Arsenal and Manchester City have so far failed to score. Or even to threaten to score, really - until now. Yossi Benayoun ends up as close as anyone's come since the 15th minute with a jinking run that sees him clear three City defenders and shoot low and right at Joe Hart from 20 yards, but that's just the appetizer.

Robin van Persie finds himself in acres of space from a cross and faced with a stranded goalkeeper, but instead of giving the hosts the lead, the striker nods against the base of the post from ten yards. That's not the sort of opportunity that you'd expect him to miss, and with that chance coming against the run of play you'd have to imagine that Arsenal could come to regret their frontman's profligacy here.
