Due to some sort of voodoo curse put on both goals, neither Valencia or Real Madrid was able to score in their crucial La Liga match on Sunday. Both teams looked very dangerous and created plenty of chances, with Madrid unsurprisingly creating more, but this was by no stretch the boring variety of 0-0 draw. Both teams played very good football and deserved at least one goal for their efforts. Madrid will feel like they deserved a win, but the Valencia defense and goalkeeper Vicente Guaita were brilliant.
Real Madrid Vs. Valencia, 2012 La Liga: Los Che Make Title Race Interesting
Los Merengues managed an incredible 33 shots and 10 on goal, though a number of those shots were fairly low-quality shots from distance that didn’t exactly constitute clear-cut chances. Still, they played solid football, and were unlucky not to find the net. Valencia countered well when they won the ball back, however, and had a couple of decent chances for a smash and grab victory in the closing minutes.
With this draw, Real Madrid now lead Barcelona by just four points. Valencia, who have been struggling in La Liga, will be thrilled with the away draw. They currently hold third place by one point, and they're two points ahead of fifth.
