Daniel van Buyten Signs Contract Extension With Bayern Munich
Daniel van Buyten signs a contract extension with Bayern Munich.

Van Buyten, 34, has been on the mend since fracturing a metatarsal in his foot against Borussia Mönchengladbach on January 20. The defender could return to the matchday squad for either in the DFB Pokal Final against Borussia Dortmund or the UEFA Champions League Final against Chelsea.
“We’re delighted Daniel will continue to play for Bayern next season,” sporting director Christian Nerlinger said. “We know what he brings to the club. His quality and his experience mean he’ll be an important part of the squad in the future.”
The Dutch international was one of the reasons Bayern entered the winter break first in the table. He was in such good form he was able to keep new signing Jerome Boateng out of the starting eleven for the majority of the first half of the season. Van Buyten made 21 appearances before the break and scored four goals. He was ranked as the third best centerback in the Bundesliga by Kicker for the first half of the season.
