The FA has announced via a press release on their website that Roy Hodgson is the new England manager. He will be formally introduced at a press conference on Tuesday.

    Roy Hodgson Officially Announced As England Manager

    The FA announced the hire on Tuesday.

    Hodgson was not a high-level professional player before he entered the coaching profession. He came up through the Crystal Palace youth academy, but never appeared for the team. He bounced around the lower leagues in England and had a short playing stint in South Africa before he got started in management before his 30th birthday. The 64-year-old has held management jobs in Sweden, Norway, Finland, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, Denmark and Italy in addition to England.

    In a statement released on The FA’s official website, Chairman David Bernsetin said;

    Back in March, former chairman of the FA, Lord Triesman said that Hodgson was ideal for the England job, stating that his record in international football, both at a club and national level was extraordinarily good.
