Okay, so the goal that technically relegated Bolton came nearly an hour-and-a-half later, but the one scored by Jonathan Walters in the 13th minute will be the one that's (rightfully) going to be getting all of the attention. Matthew Etherington sent in a dangerous ball that Walters attempted to control with his chest, but the touch was too heavy and the ball found its way to Adam Bogdan. Walters kept after it, however, and after a collision between the Stoke striker and Bolton keep the ball found its way into the bottom corner. Owen Coyle was furious that the goal was allowed to stand, and he may have had a point; judge for yourself after the jump:
VIDEO: The Controversial Goal That Relegated Bolton
That sure looks like a foul to me. Bogdan appeared to have control and has every right to ball; without the heavy contact from Walters there’s never anything close to danger to Bolton’s goal. Some might call it sour grapes, but if you think that’s a foul then Bolton fans have every right to be furious.
