It's all over. After a thrilling chase for third involving Napoli, Lazio, Inter Milan, Udinese and Roma it's the side from Udine who'll make it to the UEFA Champions League for the 2012/13 season. It was all too easy, really - Catania away was supposed to be a challenge, but Antonio di Natale managed to squeeze in from a tight angle 19 minutes in before Alejandro Gomez missed the penalty that could have got the hosts back into the match. Diego Fabbrini made things safe in the second half, and Udinese cruised to third place.
Serie A, Week 38: Udinese Win Race To Last Champions League Spot
The games elsewhere turned out not to matter much. Lazio beat Inter Milan 2-1 and Napoli got past Siena by the same score, but with an Udinese win neither Lazio or Napoli were going to be able to do anything more than Europa League qualification. Lazio's win does mean that Inter aren't making it into Europe next year, but that might be a blessing for them considering how much easier the schedule will get.
And then the lame duck games:
Cesena 2-3 Roma
Chievo 1-0 Lecce
