Claudio Pizarro has with Bayern Munich on a one year contract as the forward returns to the club where he spent six years in the early 2000s. His contract with Werder Bremen expired at the end of the 2011-2012 season. Pizarro was at Bayern between 2001 and 2007 and scored a total of 71 goals in 174 appearances. During this time, the team won the Bundesliga and the DFB Pokal three times each.

Bayern are looking to strengthen their attack after the departure of Ivica Olic to Wolfsburg. Pizarro brings many years of experience in the Bundesliga with him. He has spent the last three seasons at Werder Bremen scoring 43 times in 77 appearances.

Bayern’s sporting director Christian Nerlinger told the club’s website, “We’re delighted to have signed such an experienced international as Claudio Pizarro, who is an extremely dangerous striker.”

Pizarro is the fourth signing for Bayern this summer with Xherdan Shaqiri, Dante, and Tom Starke.
