Gylfi Sigurdsson was a revelation for Swansea City in the second half of last season, helping the promoted club to an 11th place finish in the Premier League, but he was only at the Liberty Stadium on loan. That loan is no more now, though, as the Swans have signed the Iceland international from Hoffenheim for a club record £6.8 million to keep him in Wales for the foreseeable future.
Swansea Complete Signing Of Gylfi Sigurdsson From Hoffenheim
Gylfi Sigurdsson will return to Swansea after last year’s loan, but this time on a permanent deal.

The 22-year-old Sigurdsson joined Swansea on loan at the start of 2012 and scored seven times in the second half of the season. He quickly became a fan favorite at the Liberty Stadium and the club made it known that they would like to make the move permanent. But Swansea were not the only team interested in Sigurdsson and they had competition for his signature.
Sigurdsson was open to a move and eventually came out in favor of a permanent move to Swansea. Once that happened, Hoffenheim agreed to let him go. Swansea agreed to almost double their previous record transfer fee, which they paid for Danny Graham last year, and on Monday it was confirmed that Siggurdsson and Swansea agreed to personal terms. Now only a medical stands between Sigurdsson and a transfer to Swansea.
With Sigurdsson in the fold, Leon Britton, Scott Sinclair, Michael Vorm and Graham all set to return and Brendan Rodgers looking like a good bet to remain manager, all is looking well for Swansea. Not only are they unlikely to get caught in a relegation battle, but another fight for the top half could be in the cards for the Swans.
