Revolution Vs. Fire, 2012 MLS Week 13: It’s So Lonely In MLS

The entire league is taking the week off, except for the Revolution and Fire.

Nobody in MLS is playing this week. The whole league has taken off while players from the league join their national teams. It's this international break thing that has been foreign to MLS in the past and they have taken a lot of heat for. Now they've got it down pat. International matches, no league matches. Well, as long as you're not the New England Revolution or Chicago Fire. If you're one of those teams then you have to play.

For the Fire, the matches are going to start getting really important really soon. It’s pretty rare that matches in MLS have any great importance before August or September, but Chicago is already finding themselves in a mess of teams in the middle of the Eastern Conference that doesn’t look like it will thin out as the season goes on. Each point is going to start getting incredibly important very soo.

The Revolution aren’t too far off. They are in the bottom half of the Eastern Conference, but they are only a couple wins away from joining the Fire in that middle pack. And if they are going to get those wins they are going to come at home, where they are 3-1-1 as opposed to a dreadful 1-6-0 road record.

New England Revolution vs. Chicago Fire
