Montreal Impact midfielder Patrice Bernier was suspended one game and fined an undisclosed amount for his tackle on Ryan Johnson in the 94th minute of Wednesday's game. The MLS Disciplinary Committee ruled that it was "reckless" and "endangered the safety" of Johnson.

The challenge, itself, was not particularly harsh and Johnson was able to escape without serious injury, although Bernier was shown a yellow card. It would appear that the DC took into account the circumstances of the game, in which the Impact were trailing 3-0 in the waning moments.
Bernier has been among the Impact’s best players during his first season in MLS. He has three goals and five assists, with all but one goal coming in the Impact’s last five games.
Collen Warner would seem to be the most likely replacement for Bernier as the more defensive minded of the Impact's central midfielders. The Impact play D.C. United on Saturday.
