Dirk Kuyt Joins Fenerbahce
Liverpool have lost winger Dirk Kuyt to Fenerbahce after the Dutch international exercised a £1M sell clause in his contract.
In Kuyt, Fenerbahce are getting a fairly versatile support striker who’ll work hard up and down the pitch, but although he boasts an impressive scoring record in the Netherlands his numerical production dipped significantly once he reached England. That didn’t stop him from coming up with goals in big games - Kuyt’s scored in a Champions League final and his substitute cameo in the Carling Cup final resulted in the second goal in what ended up being a penalty shootout win, his first and only trophy with the club.
Fenerbahce will be looking for Kuyt to open up space and provide service for Moussa Sow in what looks like a potent attacking trident. It’s a sensible buy at £1M, and marks a good start to the club’s summer as they look to wrest the Turkish Super Lig title away from Galatasary.
