Borussia Dortmund and centerback Mats Hummels have agreed to a contract extension that will keep the German international in Dortmund through June 2017. Manager Jürgen Klopp is very high on his star centerback:
Mats Hummels Signs Borussia Dortmund Contract Extension
The German international will remain in Dortmund through 2017.

“Mats Hummels could have moved to almost any club in Europe, but he has chosen Borussia Dortmund. This is a fantastic story. When it comes to winning tackles and closing down spaces, Mats is a very intelligent player, and I really don´t know anybody on the continent who does it as well as he does.”
Mats is currently with Germany getting prepared for Euro 2012. He's in competition with Per Mertesacker to start next to Holger Badstuber in the center of the German defense.
BVB have won the previous two Bundesliga championships, and they won this season’s DFB Pokal. This year the club won their first ever double. Hummels becomes the fourth player to sign an extension in the last seven days, joining Patrick Owomoyela, Felipe Santana and Mitch Langerak. BVB’s ability to lock Hummels into a long term contract will likely help them convince Neven Subotic that his future is in the black and yellow.
