Croatia has ruled Ivica Olic out of Euro 2012 due to a thigh injury. The MRI on his thigh showed a slight tear which is expected to take between four and six weeks to heal.

Ivica Olic has been forced to withdrawn from the European Championships after injuring his thigh.


Olic, 32, has been apart of Croatia’s squad for the past decade, with appearances in the 2002 and 2006 World Cups and the 2004 and 2008 European Championship. He has 78 caps and 15 goals for his national team. Of the tournament roster, only Darijo Srna and Eduardo da Silva have scored more goals.
Manager Slaven Bilic has called up Nikola Kalinic from Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk as a replacement. Kalinic, 24, was called up to the preliminary squad will ease right into the squad. He has scored 4 goals in only 13 caps. While he is the fourth forward on the squad, there have been high hopes for Kalinic’s future in the Croatian squad, and he could he minutes in Poland.
