Vancouver Whitecaps Vs. Houston Dynamo, 2012 MLS: Only Match Of The Week

The Dynamo and Whitecaps will play on Sunday in MLS’s lone match of the weekend.

For the second consecutive week, all of MLS is off except for one match. The whole league gets to hang out and watch World Cup qualifiers, Euro 2012 and whatever other international matches that MLS took off for, except for two teams.

This time around the Vancouver Whitecaps and Houston Dynamo are lucky enough to play while the eyes of the soccer world are elsewhere. The Whitecaps have been a nice surprise this year, especially because they are getting results with their defense and not their 400 strikers. The Sounders are the only team in the Western Conference that have allowed fewer goals than the Whitecaps this season, so they are really tough to break down and that is doubly true at BC Place.

Over in the Eastern Conference, the Dynamo are struggling. They had to play the beginning of the season on the round while their stadium was being built and they have been better at home, but they still have some catching up to do. They are currently in seventh place and need a run to move back up the table as they try to return to MLS Cup. That means scoring some goals, which has been a real problem for them. Will Bruin, where art thou? Brian Ching circa 2006, please come back!
