Honduran international Jerry Bengtson officially signed with the New England Revolution on Thursday. The 25-year-old forward will count as a Designated Player after being transferred from CD Montagua where he scored 26 goals in 54 appearances.

“We’re very pleased that we’ve added Jerry to our squad,” Revolution General Manager Michael Burns said in a team release. “He is very well-known within CONCACAF and has been a reliable, consistent scorer for both club and country. We’re looking forward to getting him integrated into our system as quickly as possible and to getting him out on the field in MLS games.”
Prior to cooling off a bit in the most recent season, Bengtson had won the Honduran league’s golden boot in three straight seasons. From the 2010 Clausura to the 2011 Clausura he scored 40 goals.
Bengtson has also become a regular with the Honduran national team, where he now has 22 caps and eight goals, including a pair of goals in a friendly against Serbia.
