The U.S. Open Cup final has a new home for the foreseeable future. GolTV announced on Wednesday that it had won the broadcast rights for each of the next three Open Cup finals, starting with this year's game that will feature the Seattle Sounders trying to win a record fourth straight title against Sporting Kansas City.

This year’s game promises to be one of the most highly anticipated in history as not only will history be on the line, but the game is being played at American soccer palace Livestrong Sporting Park. Sporting KC also promises to be the toughest opponent the Sounders have played in any of their three previous trips to the finals. Next year’s game will be the 100th edition of the tournament.
Although the last six Open Cup finals had been shown by Fox Soccer Channel, GolTV’s broadcast is not without precedent. The cable channel showed the 2004 and 2005 finals.
The move has already been met with decidedly mixed reactions. Many fans have expressed concern that the game has been moved to a relatively obscure channel that is not as widely available as some of its competitors. While GolTV is available on the same subscription tier as Fox Soccer on Directv, it is only available on a Spanish-language tier on some cable providers and is not available at all to Dish Network users.
