Wigan Vs. Chelsea: Lineups

Chelsea hand a start to Ryan Bertrand, while Oscar is on the bench and Ramires misses out. Mauro Boselli is on the bench for Wigan, with Franco Di Santo starting.

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has given youngster Ryan Bertrand a surprise start on the wing as the Blues travel to the DW Stadium to take on Wigan for their season opener.

The West London club have opted for a midfield three of Frank Lampard, John Obi Mikel, and Eden Hazard, with new signing Oscar starting his Chelsea career on the bench and Ramires misses out through illness.

Meanwhile, Wigan have opted for former Chelsea striker Franco Di Santo to start up front, with Victor Moses deployed on the wing in support. Argentinian striker Mauro Boselli begins his return to the DW Stadium on the bench, along with Ben Watson.

Wigan: Al-Habsi, Caldwell, Alcaraz, Ramis, Boyce, Figueroa, McArthur, McCarthy, Moses, Maloney, Di Santo. Subs: Pollitt, Kone, Jones, Crusat, Watson, Gomez, Boselli.

Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry, Cole, Lampard, Mikel, Hazard, Mata, Bertrand, Torres. Bench: Turnbull, Cahill, Ferreira, Essien, Meireles, Oscar, Sturridge.
