Manchester United Vs. Fulham: Lineups

Wayne Rooney is left on the bench for Manchester United in place of Robin van Persie as they take on Fulham.

Manchester United have dropped Wayne Rooney to the bench, preferring to start with Robin van Persie as they go into their first home game of the season hoping to bounce back from their defeat at Goodison Park.

The Red Devils will also have to compete with a makeshift defence, with Michael Carrick continuing in his centreback role. Jonny Evans has recovered to take a place on the bench, but has not been deemed fit enough to start.

Fulham, meanwhile, have handed a start to Mladen Petric after his hugely successful debut, while Kacaniklic also gets named in the first eleven after an impressive performance from the youngster against Norwich.

Manchester United (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Rafael, Carrick, Vidic, Evra, Valencia, Cleverley, Anderson, Kagawa, Young, van Persie. Bench: Lindegaard, Evans, Rooney, Giggs, Henandez, Welbeck, Scholes.

Fulham (4-4-2): Schwarzer, Riether, Hughes, Hangeland, Briggs, Duff, Ruiz, Diarra, Dembele, Kacaniklic, Petric. Bench: Stockdale, Kelly, Baird, Sidwell, Kasami, Rodallega, Halliche.
