The already stacked Houston Dynamo midfield got another interesting piece on Wednesday as the team formally announced the signing of Giles Barnes, who most recently played for English Championship side Doncaster Rovers. The 24-year-old was once a standout for England's U-19 team and has made 35 appearances in the English Premier League, but was out of contract which is why he was able to be signed after the close of the transfer window.
Houston Dynamo Sign English MF Giles Barnes
Giles Barnes comes to the Dynamo looking to resurrect a once promising career in England.

“This is a very exciting signing for the club,” Dynamo president Chris Canetti said in a team release. “We have acquired a young, talented and versatile player with the potential of being an impact player in MLS. Although he’s only 24 years old, he brings a wealth of playing experience at some reputable English football clubs.”
Barnes' best season was backin 2005-06 when he scored eight goals for Derby County, who earned promotion to the top flight that season. But he picked up an injury in 2007 that proved to be lingering and he hasn't quite been the player since. He'll likely be more of a depth player in Houston, who currently has a midfield of Brad Davis, Oscar Boniek Garcia and Ricardo Clarke.
