New England Revolution forward Saer Sene tore his left ACL during Wednesday's tie against Chivas USA and will miss the rest of the season, the team announced on Saturday. Sene was having a Newcomer of the Year-caliber season, scoring 11 goals and adding three assists in 25 appearances. That was the most goals a Revolution player had scored since 2007.

Sene at least went out with a bang, scoring two goals in his final game. He came out of the match in the 65th minute.

This is just the latest blow to the Revolution who have had a frustrating season in Jay Heaps' first year in charge. They are currently on a nine-game winless streak on which they've claimed just two points and lost any hope of making the playoffs.

Sene has been one of the bright spots, though, and the Frenchman appeared to be the kind of player they might be able to build around for the future. That will have to wait at least until next year.
