Arsenal vs. Chelsea: lineups

John Terry returns to the Chelsea lineup as the Blues take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal name Gervinho as their lone striker as they take on Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.

The Ivorian starts up front for the Gunners with Santiago Cazorla and Lukas Podolski up front. Theo Walcott, who has been the subject of discussion in the press over his contract situation and best position, once again starts on the bench. Vito Mannone continues in goal due to Wojciech Szczesny's injury.

John Terry also makes a return to the Chelsea side as they remain otherwise unchanged from their game against Stoke, with Gary Cahill returning to the bench, along with veteran midfielder Frank Lampard.

The most interesting point to be made here is that of the two benches, Arsenal's looks stronger, in an attacking sense at least. Victor Moses and Lampard are the only recognised attacking players Chelsea have to turn to, while Arsenal have Olivier Giroud, Walcott, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. That could be interesting as the game wears on.

Arsenal: Mannone, Jenkinson, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Diaby, Arteta, Ramsey, Cazorla, Podolski, Gervinho. Bench: Martinez, Mertesacker, Andre Santos, Giroud, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Djourou.

Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry, Cole, Mikel, Ramires, Oscar, Hazard, Mata, Torres. Bench: Turnbull, Romeu, Lampard, Moses, Cahill, Azpilicueta, Bertrand.
