Sunderland vs. West Ham: Final score 3-0, Black Cats cruise to big win

Sunderland decided to play some football against West Ham, and it showed in a superb 3-0 win. Having been poor for the better part of a season, the Black Cats roared into life against Sam Allardyce's side, putting in a display that blew their guests off the pitch at the Stadium of Light

Sebastian Larsson got things started for the hosts when he belted a stupendous 25-yard effort past Jussi Jaaskelainen, and things then went from bad to worse for the Hammers, who saw centre back James Collins forced off with an injury. The visitors made an effort to go forward, but they were pressed back repeatedly by Sunderland and could well have gone into the break more than one goal down.

Adam Johnson then killed things off just after the interval when an error from Daniel Potts allowed Steven Fletcher to feed the winger in front of an open goal, and James McClean put the match beyond doubt in the 74th minute, firing past Jaaskelainen from a tight angle. West Ham had no reply.

It was previously reported that Spieth, Thomas and Fowler all went in on Leeds United. That does not appear to be entirely the case.
