La Liga, Week 19: Valladolid wins late, Espanyol trips up Celta Vigo

Espnayol won a massive relegation six-pointer over Celta Vigo while Valladolid score twice late to defeat Mallroca

Here’s a recap of the two early matches from La Liga’s Saturday schedule.

Real Valladolid 3-1 Mallorca

Patrick Ebert was the difference make for Valladolid who earned their first win in their last five, defeating Mallorca 3-1. Ebert scored two of Valladolid's goals and assisted on the third as the Pucela moved in to the top half of the table.

It was Ebert who put Valladolid ahead in the 21st minute when a lovely striker from 20-yards out. Mallorca answered in the 28th minute when Victor Rose headed in a cross from Javier Arizmendi. Óscar González headed home a cross from Ebert in the 88th minute to put Valladolid ahead for good, with the German adding a third in stoppage. Ebert make a dancing move around Mallorca's Dudu Auoate before easily putting the ball in the empty net.

Mallorca slumps to 16th place, only a point out of the relegation zone for now.

Sergio Garcia’s tap-in in the 28th minute was the difference as Espanyol claimed all three points in a huge match against fellow relegation threatened Celta Vigo. Despite have the lionshare of possession Celta failed to do much of anything with it, managing only a single shot on goal in the match.

Espanyol got the game’s only goal when Christian Stuani got loose on the right wing before sending a low cross that found Garcia waiting near the far post for the easy tap-in.

With the victory, Espanyol pulls even with Celta on 18 points and move themselves two points clear of the drop zone.
