There have been plenty of debates over the role of Twitter in journalism and how the desire to be first to a story by 0.3 milliseconds is harming journalistic integrity. People have probably written their dissertations on this, but they needn't have bothered, because Jimmy Kebe showed them all up with a quite excellent bit of trolling.
Jimmy Kebe trolls journalists with fake transfer announcement
Jimmy Kebe announced on Twitter that he was set to join Newcastle on a four-year contract. Lots of people believed him.

After it was retweeted by hundreds of people, and big media outlets such as the Telegraph had posted about the 'announcement', it turned out to be... an elaborate joke. Well, a joke. Not an elaborate one whatsoever, but one that still managed to fool lots of people into taking it seriously.
Oups i thought if you're french and play football u just pop in to Newcastle and sign a contract 😁😁Not a chance of leaving #LoveReadingFc#

And breathe. We can now all relax, laugh at impetuous journalists, and Reading fans can breathe a sigh of relief (and Newcastle fans who have ever seen Kebe try to pick a cross, you can relax now too.)
