Wilfried Zaha signs with Manchester United

Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha pending a medical. The 20-year-old prospect, who recently made his senior England debut, has been chased by a number of teams, including Arsenal and Liverpool, and reports suggest that he'll cost the Red Devils something on the order of £15 million.

With United having trouble on the flanks this year despite the presence of Antonio Valencia, Nani and Ashley Young, a long-term reinforcement makes some sense -- although Zaha won't be available until the summer. Sir Alex Ferguson has a habit of nurturing young English talent, and he seems more than happy with the buy.

As we like to do, we sign young players with potential. We can also develop players well here. That’s proved to be the case many times. Hopefully the boy will enjoy it coming here when he eventually does join us in the summer.

Zaha’s far from the finished product at the moment, but if Ferguson can bring his obvious talent to the fore, this could be a signing that United fans revel in for years to come.
