Pictures have surfaced today off an apparent bust-up on the Manchester City training ground between Mario Balotelli and Roberto Mancini. Pictures published on various websites, which you can see here, show what appears to be Mancini berating Balotelli and grabbing his training bib before Balotelli is being restrained and pushed away from the manager by a teammate.

Sounds the alarms, somebody wake-up Jim White! Roberto Mancini and Mario Balotelli appeared to get in a little tussle at training and now the world is going to end!

Here’s the thing, this probably happens all the time on training grounds across the soccer world but there are not photographers there to take pictures.
The real issue with this story is that it involves Mario Balotelli who has a long history of anger management issues. Even if this is just one of those moments that happens, because it involves Super Mario it’s quickly become a massive event and the apparent precursor to Balotelli moving in the transfer window.
Deep breath everyone, it’s probably not a big deal and if it is, the team will deal with it. For the moment it’s nothing more than a series of photographs that are being rapidly interpreted by various talking heads despite the fact none of them were there. City isn’t talking either and I imagine all they want to do is punt the photographer for stirring this storm up.
For all we know, Balotelli and Mancini disagreed about how Peter Jackson handled the first “Hobbit” film or why TV networks always cancel the really good shows and let crap like “Whitney” go on forever.
The point is we don’t know the context of this event and in a way it’s another fabulous example of how ridiculous the modern media can be in their desperation to create a story rather than waiting for the actual facts to come out.
I wonder if Mancini thought “The Hobbit” was too long and a bit repetitive at moments. Maybe Balotelli felt the use of Azog was basically a rehashing of how Jackson used Lurtz as a story driver in “Fellowship of the Ring”, thus proving the director is kinda sorta mailing it in with “The Hobbit” and they really needed Guillermo del Toro’s fresh take on the material after all.
Or maybe it was just a disagreement between two passionate men who realize their team’s chance of repeating as EPL champions are on the precipice if they don’t get things turned around. Surely it couldn’t be that simple right?
