Aston Villa have complete a late loan deal for Tottenham winger Simon Dawkins, who was most recently on loan at San Jose Earthquakes.
The Tottenham academy product was most recently playing for San Jose Earthquakes, where he scored 14 goals in 53 appearances. His ability to play on the right should provide some useful cover for Villa, who are struggling in wide positions thanks to the injury to Marc Albrighton.
Paul Lambert had recently spoken of his frustration at the fees demanded by players and clubs as he tried to do business in the window. Last time Villa looked seriously threatened with relegation at this point, they spent big money to bring Darren Bent to the club, but this time it appears they won't be taking such a gamble.
