Colombia secure World Cup 2014 qualification

Colombia will be in Brazil next summer after clinching their first trip to the World Cup since 1998.

Colombia will make their first appearance in the FIFA World Cup since 1998 thanks to Ecuador's 1-0 win over Uruguay.

Los Cafeteros entered the day just needing a winner in that match between Ecuador and Uruguay with a draw being the one result that would prevent them from securing their spot in Brazil. Things were definitely nervy for awhile as Chile jumped out to a 3-0 lead but after Ecuador's goal, Colombia were in the driver's seat.

Colombia did fight back and earn a 3-3 draw against Chile but even if the result hadn’t gone their way, their long suffering fans were going to be celebrating no matter what.

They will finish their qualifying schedule on Tuesday against Paraguay and could still finish ahead of Argentina in the CONMEBOL table.
