Crystal Palace and Ian Holloway have parted ways after the Eagles' slow start left them five points from safety. The change comes on the heels of the Eagles' 4-1 loss to Fulham on Wednesday and a meeting with chairman Steve Parish after the match that piqued speculation of the manager's imminent departure.

Holloway joined Palace last season from Blackpool, where he was able to lead the Tangerines to promotion in 2010 only to see them relegated back to the Championship the next season. But with Palace losing a grip on their playoff place last November, Holloway jumped to join the Eagles and he helped them maintain their place in the league. A semifinal win over Brighton later and Palace were playing for promotion, which they secured in extra time thanks to a Kevin Phillips penalty to put the Eagles and Holloway back in the Premier League.
Unfortunately, Palace have been nothing short of dreadful back in the top flight. They have lost seven of eight matches, with their lone win coming over Sunderland, who sit bottom of the table. The departure of Wilfried Zaha has left them without a truly dynamic player, and while they did sign 16 players after being promoted, they had limited funds and couldn't recruit the type of impact players needed to compete in the Premier League.
