The 83rd Revierderby takes place on Saturday between Ruhr Rivals Schalke and Borussia Dortmund. This time, Die Borussen travels to Gelsenkirchen to take on Die Königsblauen. This time, however, it’s BVB that’s looking to snap a two match losing streak to their neighbors.
Schalke vs. Borussia Dortmund, Revierderby: Preview, Projected Lineups, and TV schedule
Schalke host Borussia Dortmund on Saturday in arguably the Bundesliga’s fiercest rivalry: The Revierderby.

Last season, even though BVB finished a full eleven points ahead of Schalke in the table, it was the Royal Blues that took all six points in the two matches between the clubs. Dortmund were clearly the better of the two sides last season as shown by their second place finish and appearance in the Champions League Final. However, in the two matches between the two clubs, there was no mistaking that Schalke was the better side on the day.
Jürgen Klopp may have lost Mario Götze over the summer, but his signings of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have lived up to their billing. The club is flying high to start the season. Jens Keller's side started just awful. Like, just awful. However, once Kevin-Prince Boateng joined the team at the end of the transfer window, it seemed that everything just kind of clicked.
Dortmund should be the favorites heading into the match on Saturday. They’re coming off of an impressive victory against Arsenal, while Schalke struggled tremendously against Chelsea. However, Schalke will have the gumption to take all three points in this match. My prediction for the match is a draw. BVB will look like the better side throughout the match, but Schalke will do just enough to snag an important point against BVB.
