La Liga, Week 11: Back in the mid-week groove

Just when you thought teams in the Primera Division would get a chance to breath, it’s time for another round of midweek games.

Manuel Queimadelos Alonso

There's no rest for the weary in Spain as fresh off a full round of games over the weekend, the 20 teams in the Primera Division get right back to work with three days of mid-week games. Thus is the joy of having to condense the schedule to get the season over a little earlier to clear the way for next summer's World Cup.

Barcelona, fresh off their Clásico victory, travel to Celta Vigo who are riding high after a five goal demolition job on Málaga. Just like Osasuna had an opening to steal some points off Barca leading into their derby, Celta have a chance to catch them on the downside and possibly trip up the league leaders. The other teams at the top are also in action with Madrid jostling Sevilla and Atlético Madrid traveling to face Granada.

Espanyol and Málaga meet with both sides looking to recover from poor performances over the weekend while Real Sociedad will go for their third straight league victory with a trip to Real Valladolid.

Here’s the full schedule for week 11 in La Liga:
