Bundesliga Wrap, Week 12: Bayern Munich get separation at the top
Borussia Dortmund lost to Wolfsburg on Saturday opening up some breathing room for Bayern Munich at the top of the table.

Hannover 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig
Hannover will be disappointed that they only managed to secure a point at home against Eintracht Braunschweig. There are few “sure thing” points in the Bundesliga, but you should take all three points at home against Braunschweig if you have aspirations of qualifying for Europe.
Saturday, November 9
Bayern Munich 3-0 Augsburg
Bayern eased to victory over Augsburg on Saturday and set another Bundesliga record,. The win made it 37 matches unbeaten in league play to break a record held by Hamburg since the early 1980s. Jerome Boateng started the scoring early on the day with a fourth minute goal to send Bayern on their way. Franck Ribery doubled the lead just before the halftime interval with a powerful free kick. Thomas Müller would make it 3-0 in stoppage time by converting a penalty.
Schalke 3-1 Werder Bremen
Felix Kroos opened the scoring in the 22nd minute to give Werder the lead, and they held on to that lead for the rest of the match’s first hour. Schalke finally got on the scoreboard thanks to the head of Kevin Prince Boateng. The midfielder got onto the end of two different Julian Draxler crosses to put Schalke on front as the half started to come to an end. Jefferson Farfan grabbed a goal in stoppage time to put the finishing touches on Schalke’s victory.
Bayer Leverkusen 5-3 Hamburg
The two defenses were nowhere to be found on Saturday as Bayer Leverkusen beat Hamburg 5-3. Heung Min Son was the star on the day with three goals and an assist. Two of those goals came in the first 16 minutes to give Leverkusen an early 2-0 lead. Maximilian Beister scored in the 23rd to pull one back for Hamburg. The visitors were able to level to score just after halftime when Pierre-Michel Lasogga beat Bernd Leno. Leverkusen were back on front six minutes later when Son bagged his hattrick. Stefan Kießling made it 4-2 in the 72nd, but Lasogga scored his second of the match a few minutes later to keep Hamburg in the contest. Gonzalo Castro put the match out of reach in the 89th minute with a deft lob over the head of Rene Adler.
Wolfsburg 2-1 Borussia Dortmund
Wolfsburg put in a great performance to hand Borussia Dortmund a huge loss. BVB struck first just before halftime through Marco Reus. The German international struck a spectacular free kick past Diego Benaglio to give BVB the 1-0 lead. Wolfsburg equalized in the 56th minute when Ricardo Rodriguez's free kick missed everyone and fooled Roman Weidenfeller. The ball found it's way into his net to level the score at 1-1. Ivica Olic won the match in the 69th minute with an unstoppable, curling shot that is easily the goal of the week. While the loss means that BVB fall five points behind Bayern Munich in the table, they may have received worse news in the fact that Neven Subotic tore his ACL in the match and will miss the remainder of the season.
Hoffenheim 2-3 Hertha Berlin
Adrian Ramos scored twice and assisted on a goal to lead Hertha Berlin to a 3-2 victory over Hoffenheim. The opening goal came when Ramos played a cross to Änis Ben-Hatira, and the Tunisian scored to give Hertha the 13th minute lead. Ramos doubled the lead after halftime by converting a penalty. Hoffenheim battled back and pulled level after two goals in quick succession by Sejad Salihovic in the 70th and 81st minute on a penalty and free kick. Ramos wasn’t about to let Hertha throw away their lead, and the Colombian scored with a powerful header in the 84th to give Hertha all three points.
Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-1 Nürnberg
Nürnberg surprised everyone with a goal in the 21st minute when Josip Drmic scored from inside the penalty area. Der Club dominated the remainder of the half, and Gladbach looked flustered and devoid of ideas. Gladbach finally started looking like the team everyone has come to know this season around the hour mark. Juan Arango brought Gladbach level with a great shot in the 72nd minute. Gladbach jumped in front just three minutes later. Niklas Stark accidentally knocked Arango’s free kick into his own goal. Patrick Herrmann’s powerful shot in the 87th minute secured all three points for Gladbach to keep them in fourth place.
Sunday, November 10
Mainz 1-0 Eintracht Frankfurt
Thomas Tuchel’s side was always going to struggle on the day without Nicolai Müller. Neither side wanted to score a goal, but second half substitute Maxim Choupo-Moting was having none of it. The forward scored in the 88th minute to give Mainz the important 1-0 victory.
Freiburg 1-3 Stuttgart
Seventeen year old Timo Werner stole the show for Stuttgart today with a brace to lead Stuttgart to a 3-1 victory over Freiburg. Vedad Ibisevic opened the scoring in the 8th minute when he placed Christian Gentner’s cross off the underside of the crossbar and into the goal. Werner doubled the lead two minutes later with a weaving run before slotting the ball under Oliver Baumann for the 2-0 lead. Mike Hanke pulled one back for Freiburg in the 78th minute, but Werner scored another just four minutes later to push Stuttgart’s advantage back to two goals.
