Torino vs. Roma, Preview and TV Schedule: Roma freight train showing no signs of slowing

Roma’s scintillating start to the season continued as they beat Chievo 1-0 on Thursday to record 10 wins in the opening 10 matches of the season and they will look to continue their seemingly unstoppable run against a Torino who seem to have forgotten how to win matches.

It must be frustrating to be a Torino fan of late. A positive start to the season has established the side firmly in mid-table, just four points from Lazio in seventh however they find themselves without a victory in six matches. Not since a 2-1 away victory against Bologna in late September have Torino registered three points but the really frustrating thing for their fans is they have actually played quality and entertaining football at times. Against Livorno in midweek, they were 2-0 up before ten minutes had even been played however they found themselves 3-2 down with 20 minutes to play, a late Alessio Cerci penalty rescuing a point. Prior to this, they had lead twice against Inter before again going 3-2 down and again a late goal saving them, Nicola Bellomo the hero on that occasion whilst against Sampdoria at the beginning of October, they were on the receiving end as an injury-time penalty prevented them taking home all of the points. Given their seeming inability to hold on to leads and Roma's incendiary form, it seems unlikely that they will register a long-overdue victory here however with a talisman like Cerci, they are always capable of causing a shock.

What can really be said about Roma that hasn't been said before? Ten matches, ten victories, a five point lead in the table and seemingly endless confidence. Prior to the start of the season, the prognosis wasn't particularly rosy with a new coach with no experience of Italian football and the departures of Erik Lamela and Pablo Osvaldo, last season's standout performer and top goalscorer respectively, to be replaced with the likes of the returning Marco Borriello and Gervinho, didn't look to be a route to glory for the Giallorossi but all the ingredients appear to have come together to make them an irresistible force as they sit proudly atop the Serie A tree. Although their last two matches have only been won by a score of 1-0 against Udinese and bottom club Chievo, it still demonstrates their momentum, the victory against Chievo came without Francesco Totti, Gervinho or Maicon showing their strength in depth. Their remarkable run means it really is difficult to see any other outcome than another three points on Sunday, especially given Torino's inability to get results in recent weeks however it sometimes is the unlikeliest opponents who end runs such as this one.

Torino are still without first-choice goalkeeper Jean-Francois Gillet along with Matteo Brighi and Cesare Bovo whilst Alexander Farnerud is a doubt and Giuseppe Vives is suspended. Roma will still be without captain Francesco Totti and long-term injury Mattia Destro, centre-back Leandro Castan will miss out due to suspension.
