Unsurprisingly, the Mexican FA looks likely to appoint Miguel Herrera as permanent head coach after the country's success against New Zealand in the World Cup intercontinental qualifying playoff. ESPN Deportes is reporting that the decision has already been made, but that an announcement will not be made until the conclusion of the Liga MX campaign of his current employer, Club America.

Club America are about to lose their manager to national team duty, but his reported replacement should be able to pick up where he left off without missing a beat.

America starts their Liguilla playoff campaign on Sunday. Their season will conclude in mid-December if they make the final.
Juanjo Buscalia of FOX Sports posted on Twitter that ‘El Turco’ Antonio Mohamed is expected to take over from Herrera at America.

He guided them to their first ever league title less than a year later, capturing the 2012 Clausura. After a successful campaign in Copa Libertadores that included a win over world champions Corinthians, Mohamed stepped down in order to be closer to his family in Argentina. He currently manages Huracan -- who he played for -- in the Argentinian second division, but indicated that he was willing to return to Mexico for the right opportunity earlier in the fall.
