Monarcas Morelia vs. Club Leon: Preview and TV schedule

The hosts will look to take a commanding lead in the first leg and take advantage of any possible jetlag still affecting Leon’s stars.

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODA

Club Leon will see themselves as serious Liguilla contenders after putting together a brilliant regular season, but they’ll have to survive a tough test on Saturday night to start their run to the final. Four of their starters making up the spine of their team all made the trip to New Zealand with the Mexican national team and might not be fresh to face Monarcas Morelia.

All of Rafael Marquez, Carlos Peña, Luis Montes and Edwin Hernandez were called into the Mexico team by Miguel Herrera and probably won’t be 100 percent when they take the pitch. There’s no indication of whether or not any of those players will be rested in this first leg. Morelia had one player, midfielder Rodrigo Salinas, called into the Mexico team.

Morelia and Leon drew 0-0 early in the Apertura, but Monarcas have gotten the best of Leon in recent tournaments, going undefeated in their last six matches against Leon.

Match date/time: Saturday, 8 p.m. ET

Venue: Estadio Morelios, Morelia, Mexico

TV: ESPN Deportes
