Cristiano Ronaldo injury: Real Madrid star substituted early against Almeria

While it’s impossible to tell the severity, Cristiano Ronaldo was subbed off Saturday after pulling up lame.

Real Madrid fans will be sweating bullets on Saturday night while they wait to learn the fate of superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who was substituted in the 52nd minute of Real Madrid's La Liga game against Almeria. He had scored to put Real Madrid ahead 1-0 before going off.

Ronaldo went down under a heavy challenge by Alexis Vidal, grabbed the back of his leg and walked off gingerly. After exiting the game, he walked directly down the tunnel. He was replaced by Jese Rodriguez.

Madrid have the aforementioned Jese, as well as Alvaro Morata and Angel Di Maria in reserve, so they’ll be able to fight through a Ronaldo injury if it’s a short-term issue. They’re also aided by the fact that La Liga gets a winter break in just over a month. If it’s a long-term problem, however, Los Merengues can probably kiss any hopes of winning trophies this season goodbye.
