It has been a night to forget for Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo, where captain Marek Hamšík limped off after picking up an injury in the Serie A match against Parma. Coach Rafael Benítez elected to start his star playmaker on the bench, knowing that a potentially-decisive Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund is coming up in midweek.
Marek Hamšík injury: Napoli midfielder substituted against Parma
Napoli’s star player Marek Hamšík limped off in tonight’s Serie A match against Parma -- with Borussia Dortmund coming up in midweek.

However, with the game still deadlocked at 0-0 with 20 minutes to go, Benítez threw Hamšík into the game -- only for him to hobble off less than ten minutes later. Four minutes after he was replaced by Dries Mertens, Napoli conceded. When it rains, it pours.
Fortunately he was still able to semi-jog off the pitch -- albeit with a grimace -- though with such a big game coming up in a few days, even a short-term injury spells bad news for the partenopei.
