AC Milan vs. Genoa: Final score 1-1, Rossoneri frustrated by ten-man Grifone

Despite having an extra man for most of the match, AC Milan could only draw 1-1 at home to Genoa.

Unfortunately life for AC Milan and coach Massimiliano Allegri isn't getting any easier. The rossoneri failed to beat Genoa at home on Saturday, despite having an extra man for almost an hour of football. Mario Balotelli even managed to miss a penalty.

Milan did actually make a great start to the match, taking the lead through Kaká after just four minutes. However, Genoa's response came quickly, and within seven minutes they were level. Urby Emanuelson fouled Šime Vrsaljko in the area, with Alberto Gilardino converting the following penalty kick.

The rossoneri were nevertheless on top, with Balotelli and Alessandro Matri both squandering opportunities before Thomas Manfredini was sent off for the visitors just past the half-hour, for a blatant foul in the box on Balotelli. Balo had never missed a penalty in his career prior to this season, but Perin's stop ensured the tally now stands at two.

An onslaught ensued, with Milan completely dominating through to halftime, and then for the entire second half. But, thanks to an outstanding performance from young Mattia Perin between the Genoa goalposts -- not to mention some poor finishing -- the scores stayed level.

Milan’s winless streak extends to five, while Genoa’s impressive run of form continues -- they are now four points and four places above Allegri’s side in seventh place.
