Cristiano Ronaldo will miss Real Madrid’s match against Galatasaray

The Portuguese striker’s hamstring injury picked up in Madrid’s win against Almeria is not as bad as initially feared, but it will still keep Ronaldo out of Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Galatasaray

Cristiano Ronaldo will miss out on Real Madrid's Champions League match against Galatasaray, but it appears that the Madrid striker won't miss significant time beyond that.

Ronaldo limped off during Madrid's victory over Almeria on Saturday and his status has everyone around Madrid holding their breath, awaiting the results of test. In his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, head coach Carlo Ancelotti announced that while Ronaldo would be unavailable for Wednesday's match, the damage to his hamstring was not as serious as first feared.

He continued to say that Ronaldo was confident he'd be available on Saturday but Ancelotti stressed that if there was any doubt, he would not risk his leading scorer against Real Valladolid.

Madrid have still said little about Ronaldo’s injury other than he sustained a muscle strain, but it looks like it will only be a small bump in the road.

Real Madrid should be just fine without Ronaldo as they face Galatasaray at home. The first match between the two sides back in mid-September ended with Los Blancos leaving Turkey with a 6-1 victory.

Madrid can clinch both Group B and a place in the Round of 16 with a draw or win at the Bernabéu.
